REQUIREMENTS

Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work or related field plus one year of experience in working with children and families. Related fields are limited to sociology, psychology, counseling, criminal justice, education, divinity, or public health administration. Must meet eligibility under Pennsylvania Child Abuse, State Police Clearance, and FBI Clearance criteria.

RESPONSIBILITIES

The Adoption Coordinator is responsible for preparing and facilitating adoptions for children and families contracted for service through the Philadelphia Department of Human Services and the State Wide adoption network. The adoption coordinator is under the direct supervision of the adoption supervisor.

• Learns, understands, accepts and implements agency policy, applicable laws and regulations.
• Communicates clearly and in an appropriate manner, which furthers the agency purpose and promotes cooperation and team work.
• Completes child and family profiles in accordance with county and SWAN regulations and timelines.
• Completes home studies, background checks and related documentation in accordance with county and SWAN regulations and timelines.
• Generates adoptive files and records which may include confidential information.
• Utilizes computer programs such as Word, Excel, Access, EM, Internet and Email.
• Prepares invoices and completes SWAN billing in a timely manner.
• Assists with training of new adoption staff.
• Completes interagency and county file reviews in a timely manner.
• Completes child preparation curriculum for children within the agency.
• Attends all interagency, county and SWAN meetings and trainings.
• Attends adoption finalization hearings and other court hearings.
• Conducts pre-adoptive training in accordance with agency regulations.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
